KUALA TERENGGANU – The Terengganu Islamic Affairs Department (JHEAT) has found a new innovation in disposing off the Quran.
State Communications, Multimedia and Special Functions Committee chairman Ghazali Taib said the new innovation involved burning the Quran and turning the ashes into cubes.
“This makes the process of storing the ashes and disposing it into the sea easier, in accordance with syariah, as well as environment-friendly,” he added.
He said the new innovation was introduced last March to overcome the problem of transferring the silage tanks containing the ashes to the ship and prevent the ash from flying during the process of disposing it into the sea.
“The process of turning the Quran ashes into cubes is made easier and faster after the Terengganu Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIDAM) approved an allocation to buy a mixer,” he told reporters after disposing the ashes of the Quran in Terengganu waters today.
A total of 118 cubes of the Quran ashes were disposed into the sea. The ash was obtained after burning 1,400kg of damaged Quran.- BERNAMA
