SEREMBAN – A jewellery shop in Jalan Tuanku Hassan, here, lost RM300,000 to two robbers wielding metal rods, this morning.
State police chief DCP Datuk Jaafar Mohd Yusof said the incident took place at 11am when the owner, two workers and a customer were in the shop.
“The two men, wearing long sleeve shirts and full-faced helmets, rushed into the shop and broke the jewellery showcases using metal rods covered with wrapping papers.
“They scooped up four trays of jewellery and escaped on a motorcycle via a backlane where they discarded the metal rods,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the owner identified as Teng, in his 30s, said it was the third robbery at the shop.
Teng, who said the robbery only took two to three minutes, added the shop incurred losses of RM400,000 in a robbery in 2005, and a similar amount, early this year. – BERNAMA
