JOHOR BAHARU – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) produced a classy performance in front of about 10,000 fans at the Larkin Stadium to beat Kitchee FC from Hong Kong 2-0 in a Group F AFC Cup match, here tonight.
The win today not only gave JDT top spot in Group F but also avenged the 0-2 defeat against Kitchee FC in their first outing in Hong Kong.
JDT now lead Group F with nine points, followed by Kitchee FC with seven while East Bengal from India has four points in third place while Balestiar Khalse from Singapore are at the bottom of the table with three points.
Argentine import Luciano Figueroa gave JDT a flying start in the 17th minute by finishing off a pass from Safiq Rahim before Safiq himself scored the second in the 42nd minute from the spot when the referee awarded a penalty when S. Kunanlan was brought down inside the box.
JDT will next play East Bengal in India on April 28.
