JOHOR BAHARU – Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) kept Super League leader Pahang within sight after beating Selangor 3-1 at the Larkin Stadium in the only Super League fixture last night to remain just two points behind in the table.
Cheered on by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who had dropped a bombshell by announcing his quit decision as the President of the Johor Football Association yesterday, JDT produced a polished performance to walk out with a comfortable win over Selangor.
It was incidentally a former Selangor stalwart, Amri Yahyah who put JDT in the lead by the 11th minute before Luciano Figueroa added the second in the 44th minute.
Selangor managed to reduce the deficit a minute later through Andik Vermansah but a delightful free kick from Figueroa in the 79th minute saw JDT kill the game and walk out with all three points.
The M-League will take a break for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the International friendly between the Malaysian Selection and English Premier League club Liverpool FC on July 24.
