JOHOR BAHRU – Underage teenagers and senior citizens were among 40 locals arrested for allegedly being involved in online illegal gambling around the city areas, since Oct 1 until yesterday.
Johor Baharu police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said the male suspects, aged between 16 and 61, were nabbed during raids at eight separate premises.
He said police also seized cash, totalling RM2,705, 13 computers, 31 laptops, six wi-fi modems, 13 tablets, two iPads and four account ledgers.
So far, the police had conducted 54 raids on illegal online gaming outlets with the arrest of 255 individuals, and seized 93 laptops, 83 computers and RM38,893, he said.
Meanwhile, the district police also arrested 17 local men, aged between 16 and 36, from Oct 1 to 18, to facilitate investigation in motorcycle theft cases.
Sulaiman said police also seized 15 motorcyles, four motor chassis, motorcycle theft tools and four cars, worth around RM120,000 to RM140,000, during the raids. – BERNAMA
