PASIR MAS – The Rural and Regional Development Ministry, through the Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa), will expedite survey of land belonging to the Orang Asli in the interior areas of Kelantan, especially Lojing in Gua Musang.
Its deputy minister, Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said Jakoa would work with the state government to expedite the process as land matters came under the state government’s jurisdiction.
“The ministry has instructed Jakoa to expedite survey work on Orang Asli land and we have also requested the state government to not use land in Ulu Kelantan that may belong to the Orang Asli,” he told reporters after opening the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jias’ Parent-Teacher Association meeting here today.
He was asked on the call by the Orang Asli community for the state and federal governments to gazette their land to avoid trespassing by companies to carry out highland agriculture projects.
On the Kelantan Declaration which was signed by all 14 UMNO divisional heads in the state to demonstrate their undivided support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s leadership, Ahmad Jazlan said the state UMNO had always supported the party leadership and rejected any leader or former leaders who wanted to topple him (Najib).
Ahmad Jazlan is also Kelantan UMNO deputy liaison chief – BERNAMA
