TAWAU – Police are seeking public cooperation to locate an Italian man who has disappeared in Lahad Datu near here.

Sabah police commmissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman (pic) said William Bocchi, 52, was reported missing by a friend after he failed to return to Italy on Saturday.

“The friend named Fabio who is in Italy, said in his report that he had been sending messages through emails to another friend of William’s in Kuala Lumpur that the latter had not returned to Italy as planned.

“Initial investigations revealed that William last contacted Fabio on oct 13, informing him that he was in Lahad Datu, but did not disclose his purpose for going there,” Jalaluddin said in a statement in Tawau, Monday.

Jalaluddin said from the information gathered, William was believed to have gone to Lahad Datu to meet clients about some “financial services”.

“Immigration records show that William entered Malaysia through Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Oct 12 and went to Lahad Datu the following day on the 1.05 pm flight from Kota Kinabalu,” he said.

Jalaluddin urged the public to contact the nearest police station if they have relevant information on William. – BERNAMA
