Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has assured the people that the Barisan Nasional government would continue to defend and protect the interest of all communities irrespective of race.
Najib said any dispute which could lead to racial polarisation in the nation should not be lengthened as it would only bring harm to all including the unity enjoyed by Malaysians.
He said the Cabinet also urged all traders to be responsible and thoughtful while determining the prices of goods and services in line with the drop in petrol and diesel prices so that consumers could feel the impact of price reduction.
Najib also explained that the statement made by Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was meant for stubborn traders who refused to lower the prices of goods and services despite the decline in fuel prices.
Earlier this week, Ismail Sabri had posted on his Facebook account calling for a boycott of Chinese traders as it would lead them to lower the prices of goods.
However, Ismail Sabri had since clarified the statement and explained that it was meant for stubborn Chinese traders. His posting had drawn criticisms from various quarters including MCA.-NST
