KUALA LUMPUR – Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be holding a meeting with MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai to explain his remarks about businessmen reluctant to bring down prices.
Speaking to reporters after attending a Gen Y gathering involving Malaysian students from local and foreign universities organised by Yayasan Pertanian Belia Malaysia (YPBM) in collaboration with Briged Kesatria Muda Pergerakan Pemuda Umno Malaysia, Umno Overseas Clubs and several NGOs here last night, Ismail Sabri said he expected the meeting to be held before the Chinese New Year so that the issue could be settled amicably.
Although Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had issued a statement on Friday on the need for traders irrespective of race to be fair to consumers in line with the drop in fuel prices, the issue appears to have not gone away.
“If MCA attacks me, UMNO people will feel it because I am UMNO leader. I will meet Liow to resolve this issue and hope to do it before the Chinese New Year,” Ismail Sabri said. – Bernama
