LABUAN – A single handicapper, Ismail Piei made history on Sunday (April 2), when he shot a score of 19 over par 163 in the inaugural Club Championship 2017 of Labuan International Golf Club (LIGC).
He won by a single stroke from second place Idris Mohamad, another single handicapper, after being tied from day one of the tournament.
“I am really happy with the way I played, despite being tied with Ismail throughout the game,” Idris said to Bernama.
Mohd Zariq Encho Suhaini won third place with 23 over par 167.
“It was a pretty round for Ismail and Idris to finish up on,” said LIGC general manager Abdul Razak Abd Samad.
Yacob Santong, a 17-handicapper, however was the man to catch after he carded a flawless 136, eight-under-par, making him the winner of nett champion.
Second place was won b y Osman Liasim (four under par) while Nowfal Ahamed ended in third place.
A total of 61 golfers took part in the two-day event. – BERNAMA
