KUALA LUMPUR – Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said there appeared to be some confusion over the contradicting statements made by leaders of the opposition Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
“(PPBM chairman) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he does not mind contesting under the DAP banner whereas some PPBM leaders said they do not mind contesting under PKR or PAN, which are seen as Malay parties, but not under DAP.
“So, which is it going to be, or is Mahathir going to contest under DAP and the others are going to contest under PKR and PAN?” Salleh asked in his blog today.
He said DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang, meanwhile, had said nothing regarding the use of the DAP symbol.
On Sunday, Dr Mahathir was quoted as saying that he was willing to contest under the ticket of any of the political parties in Pakatan Harapan including DAP in the 14th General Election if his party PPBM gets deregistered.
The PPBM chairman said this was the option he was considering in view of the dilemma faced by his party following the latest action by the Registrar of Societies (RoS). RoS has asked PPBM to submit the minutes of its branch, division and central level meetings as well as its financial statement by March 29 or face the risk of deregistration. – BERNAMA
