BANGI – Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) chairman Datuk Seri
Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim was conferred a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education
(Adult and Professional Development) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
at its 44th convocation ceremony, here yesterday.
The convocation officiated by UKM Chancellor, Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri
Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, was held for four days beginning today.
Irmohizam who was met after the event said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib
Tun Razak were among those who gave him moral support throughout his studies.
His strength in completing his three-year and a half studies came from the
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his late father.
“I faced various challenges during my studies. Alhamdullilah, the effort
was worthwhile and it adds on to my list of achievements,” said Irmohizam.
Throughout the university’s convocation ceremony, a total of 6,385 graduates
would received their scrolls.
UKM also presented Honorary Doctorates to three individuals who had
contributed to the university and the country, namely Prof Datuk Dr Ibrahim
Ahmad Bajunid (Education), Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (Doctor of Philosophy in Social
Sciences and Humanities) dan Prof Dr Shahbaz Khan (Doctor of Philosophy in
Environment and Sustainable Development).
