KANGAR – Young people in Perlis are invited to join the UMNO Youth entrepreneurship programme which can benefit more than 5,000 youths who are looking for jobs or want to start a business.
Perlis UMNO Youth chief Syed Atief Syed Abu Bakar said their aim was to help young people in the state generate income without expecting salaried job opportunities alone.
“We have outlined some special packages to meet the needs of young people seeking employment or facing difficulty in obtaining capital resources to start a business or do not have a place or land to start a business.
“So far, we have introduced programmes for hardware business, hairdressing, burger stalls and lawn mowing, especially for young people who are keen to develop themselves as entrepreneurs,” he told Bernama here.
According to him, a barber shop in Simpang Empat is run by youths, while state UMNO chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has contributed stalls to youths who are committed.
“For running a hardware business, UMNO Youth will help in terms of cost or start-up capital which is estimated to be more than RM20,000. For youths who lack special skills or are not interested in learning new skills, they will provide grass cutters for their use,” he said.
Syed Atief said the conditions for joining each entrepreneur programme were simple, open to all youths under 30, and with the requirement for applicants to register as voters. – BERNAMA
