PUTRAJAYA – International assessment experts invited to the meeting to determine the standard of the 2014 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination were satisfied with the process of instrument construction and examination answer script inspection.
Education director-general Datuk Seri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said they were also happy with the meeting which was conducted in complete professionalism and credibility.
“They were of the opinion all processes met the features of education assessment standard and was managed systematically to ensure high validity and reliability of examination results,” he told a media conference on the 2014 SPM results analysis here today.
According to him, those invited to benchmark and assure quality were experts from Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Pearson Qualification Services, United Kingdom as well as Educational Testing Services (ETS), of the United States.
Apart from that, Khair said 213,168 or 50 per cent of 2014 SPM candidates succeeded in obtaining GCE O-Level for English (1119) which was conducted with the cooperation of the Examination Syndicate and CIE.
He said 43,062 or 52 per cent of the 82,780 candidates who sat for the Principles of Accounts were also eligible for the LCCI Level 2 Book Keeping and Account certificate in collaboration with Pearson Education Ltd.
Khair also thanked and congratulated candidates who performed well in the 2014 SPM examination.
“I also hoped they will continue the culture of excellence in whatever fields they choose to excel and contribute to national development,” he said. – BERNAMA
