KUALA LUMPUR – The concept of rejuvenation which was a focus in the 2014 Umno General Assembly, should be instilled among government employees to give a positive impact in their work.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the concept of rejuvenation should be practised at both the implementer and policy-maker levels.
“For example, a low ranking forestry ranger is the enforcement officer who enters the forest but after he has reached a certain age, he may not be capable of doing the job he used to do when he was young.
“So, rejuvenation must be instilled among implementers,” he told a press conference at the Parliament lobby here today.
Commenting on the issue of maintaining the Sedition Act as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently, Shahidan questioned parties which continued to dispute the act even though it was aimed at maintaining national harmony.
“Why are these people busy questioning this act? It is to secure the country and people, and opposing the act means they are going against the country,” he said.
He said the act was important to ensure racial harmony and peace continued to be preserved in the nation.
On Thursday, Najib announced the Sedition Act would be maintained with proposed amendments to strengthen the act so that it remained relevant with current developments. – BERNAMA
