Indiana Jones Named Greatest Movie Character Of All Time

in Entertainment/Latest

INDIANA Jones has been voted the Greatest Movie Character of All Time by thousands of film fans.

Professor Jones, known as ‘Indy’, was played by actor Harrison Ford in four high-octane adventure movies from 1981 until 2008 and was the creation of legendary film director George Lucas and script-writer and producer Lawrence Kasdan.

There were reports last month that a fifth film will be made, though at 72, it is not know how much of a role Ford would take.

Indiana Jones was chosen as the Great Movie Character by over 10,000 movie enthusiasts who cast their votes via Empire magazine’s website.

Commenting on the results, Morgan Rees, editor in chief of Empire, said: “It was truly heartening to see one of my personal favourite film heroes voted as the Empire readers’ greatest-ever movie character —Indiana Jones, played so brilliantly by Harrison Ford in Steven Spielberg’s evergreen pulp adventure series.

“It’s not hard to see why he’s so beloved: handsome, heroic, capable, but he’s also got flaws — not only is he afraid of snakes, he also makes mistakes. You can relate to Indy. He’s human, not superhuman. There’s an element of knowingness and irony to him, too, that only heightens his appeal further. Plus of course, he really knows how to rock a fedora.?”

George Lucas, who created Indiana Jones, added: “It is wonderful to know Indiana is loved.”

Secret Service agent James Bond, played by British actors Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, narrowly missed out on the top spot, meanwhile Harrison Ford makes another top ten appearance with his Star Wars alter-ego Han Solo, who ranked third. – Mirror
