KOTA BARU: Posters showing models who are “not properly covered” will only elicit sexual desire from those who see them, state Local Government committee chairman Datuk Abdul Fattah Mahmood said.
He said the recent ban on such posters in the state was necessary as allowing them to be displayed would lead to other unhealthy activities.
“That is why we decided to ban poster showing women wearing bikinis or who are not decently dressed.
“These have been included in the conditions set by all local councils for many years now,” he told reporters.
Abdul Fattah was asked to comment on two non-Malay businessmen who were issued with summonses after displaying posters of models without the headscarves.
The state government came under fire from those who regarded such enforcement as trivial and making it tough for Chinese businessmen to conduct businesses in Kelantan.
