Incheon Bound Hockey Squad Work On Penalty Corner

KUALA LUMPUR – National hockey squad interim coach Arul Selvaraj opted for last minute training to sharpen penalty corners as a secret weapon.

“Training is going as planned. I am confident that they will do well as we made thorough preparation,” he said at the presentation of the national hockey jersey at the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil, here today.

The new jersey was presented by the general secretary of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC), Datuk Mohd Johari Abdul Aziz and hockey team manager for the Asian Games, Tai Beng Hai.

Asked about the progress of the players, Selvaraj said the national hockeys players are applying a new training system.

Meanwhile, Tai believed that the squad comprising eight players who played at 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China and eight new players can make great impact on the results and performance

“I am confident that the senior and new players can get positive results as the senior players can share their experience of playing in the Asian Games,” he added.

Meanwhile, national hockey skipper Azlan Misron hopes to create history by presenting a gold medal to Malaysia at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. – Bernama
