KUALA LUMPUR – IKEA today urged customers who have a GUNGGUNG children’s swing to immediately remove the swing from children and bring it back to the IKEA store where they will receive a full refund.
IKEA has received reports of incidents showing that the suspension fittings on the GUNGGUNG swing do not live up to IKEA quality requirements posing a risk of serious injury.
“We develop products intended to stimulate children’s creativity and natural need for physical play. Children don’t think about safety when playing, so we need to do that when we develop products,” Business Area Manager for children’s products at IKEA, Cindy Andersen, said in a statement.
“Our mindset at IKEA is that we only sell products that we would give to our own children. However, sometimes even though we have tested according to applicable standards and legislation, we make mistakes.
“We are therefore recalling the GUNGGUNG swing to avoid any more incidents,” she said.
The GUNGGUNG children’s swing, which has been sold in IKEA Malaysia since April 1, 2014, can be returned to the IKEA store for a full refund.
Proof of purchase or receipt is not required for a full refund.
