SUBANG JAYA: Police have set up a task force to investigate claims that billionaire George Soros was meddling in the general election by funding local civil society groups and a news portal.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said Bukit Aman’s CID deputy director (intelligence and operations) Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad is heading the five-member task force.
“The task force is currently investigating reports on the internet and from complainants. When we have done that, we will start calling in people for statements,” Khalid said.
He added that police had identified several people to be questioned.
It was reported that Soros’ Open Society Foundation (OSF) had been funding several local organisations in its programmes to allegedly influence the outcome of the general election.
