THE British actor will bring Marc Olden’s supernatural thriller novel to the big screen through his Green Door Production Co, Publishers Weekly reports.
Published in 1978, “Poe Must Die” centres on a fictional version of the novelist and poet Edgar Allan Poe, who teams with a powerful former boxer to track down an evil sorcerer in 1840s New York. The pair must keep the sorcerer from acquiring the Throne of Solomon, which would give him immortality and dominion over Lucifer.
It remains to be seen whether Idris Elba — seen in “Thor: The Dark World,” in “Pacific Rim” and on the BBC series “Luther” — will play an on-screen role in this supernatural thriller. There is no word either on who might be in the director’s chair on the film trilogy.
The British actor, who is reportedly in the running to become the next James Bond, will return to theatres on May 1 in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.
” He is also set to voice the tiger Shere Khan in Disney’s forthcoming “The Jungle Book” remake. – AFP Relaxnews
