SANTUBONG – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he will govern nation as best and as fair as possible in order that Malaysia under his leadership attains progress as aspired and required in Islam.
He said as a leader who was elected by the people, the government under his leadership would carry out the mandate given, especially in fulfilling his responsibility to Allah as a leader.
“If we want to advance to 2020, then we need the people and Muslims to be excellent, outstanding and great. Our country do not become developed only from the physical aspects by having buildings, roads and basis amenities without the people having the strength as required by Islam,” he said.
He said this in his speech after performing Firday prayers at Nurir Rahmani mosque, Kampung Santubong, and later proceeded to officiate the RM3 million- mosque here today.
Earlier he joined about 1,000 Muslims to perform Friday prayers and listened to a sermon entitled “Ethics and Integrity, Workers’ Foundation” delivered by Sarawak state assistant head imam Mohammad Ihsan Haidzir.
Also present was Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is also Santubong Member of Parliament.
Najib hoped the Friday sermon that was delivered would become a guide to become excellent, outstanding and great Muslims.
He said Islamic teachings were wide and open as well as suitable for all time and must be centred on strengthening solidarity.
“This is important for all Muslims as without strength driven by their solidarity and unity we will lose everything.
“So let us as Muslims together build a successful Islamic civilisation that radiated from those who have self-esteem and a love of knowledge,” he added. – BERNAMA
