JOHOR BAHARU – Skudai state assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hau yesterday tendered his resignation as the opposition leader in the Johor State Assembly, a day after losing in the Johor DAP election.
Dr Boo said his resignation letter was sent to Johor State Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Aziz, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and DAP state secretary Gan Peck Cheng.
He was the state opposition leader for seven years.
According to Dr Boo, the decision to quit was following his failure to defend his position in the state DAP committee in Batu Pahat, Sunday.
“My big mistake was to allow Central Executive Council (CEC) to contest in Johor during the 13th General Election. Even more painful is the fact that I was betrayed by people close to me,” he told reporters at his office here Monday.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Aziz confirmed receiving Dr Boo’s resignation letter and clarified that Dr Boo’s position as the Skudai state assemblyman would not be affected.
