KUALA LUMPUR -Â World number one badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei stressed that he had never used prohibited substances in his career.
“I never cheated nor will I ever rely on banned substances,” the shuttler said in his Facebook entry today.
Chong Wei acknowledged that there were so many unanswered questions regarding his case, but hoped to clear his name as soon as possible.
“I just want to thank every one of you who had faith in me through this difficult time,” he said.
Chong Wei was confirmed as testing positive for the banned substance, ‘dexamethasone’ in the ‘Sample B’ test conducted at the Oslo University Hospital in Norway on Wednesday.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Deputy President Datuk Norza Zakaria told a media conference yesterday that he received the official result from the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday.
The sports icon reportedly failed the drug test at the World Badminton Championships in Copenhagen in August. – BERNAMA
