HULU TERENGGANU – Hutan Lipur Sekayu has been closed to the public to facilitate the search and rescue (SAR) operation for student Ahmad Rafikin Azman.
Hulu Terengganu deputy police chief ASP Rosli Amir said the area has to be was closed as the arrival of many people to offer help disrupted the SAR operation.
“Besides, we have to temporarily close this area to avoid any untoward incidents. We fear that as the rescuers are trying to find the student, someone else may go missing,” he told reporters here, today.
Among other factors which led to the closure of the area was the heavy rain which could jeopardise the safety of visitors enjoying a picnic or a swim.
Ahmad Rafikin,16, was reported missing by his father Azman Othman,50, who came to fetch him after the marathon ended at Gunung Gajah Terom on Saturday. – BERNAMA
