HSR: Existing Labu-Seremban Alignment Will Not Be Used

in Top News

REMBAU – The existing railway alignment will not be used for the Seremban station of the High Speed Rail link between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, said Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said there would be a new alignment to avoid more residential areas from being acquired for the purpose.

“It has to be a new alignment because there has to be a buffer zone of 250 metres on either side of the high speed rail track.

“If we are to use the existing alignment, many housing areas will be affected. So the new alignment from Melaka will pass mainly oil palm plantations, namely the Jimah area (Port Dickson) onwards to Sendayan, Gadong Jaya and to Labu (Seremban) and that is where our HSR station will be built,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a Deepavali open house hosted by MIC Information chief and Rembau MIC division chairman Datuk V.S. Mogan in Rantau near here today.

The HSR KL-SG line links Kuala Lumpur, Bangi, Putrajaya, Seremban, Melaka, Muar, Batu Pahat, Iskandar Puteri and Singapore. – BERNAMA
