SERDANG – The 2017 National-level Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen’s Day (HPPNK) carnival to be held from Sept 28 to Oct 1, is expected to hit sales of between RM20 million to RM30 million.
Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the carnival, to be held for the first time at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Serdang, is also expected to attract 500,000 visitors.
Ahmad Shabery was optimistic of achieving the target since HPPNK 2017 would feature three other main events, namely Malaysia Food Festival (MFF), Livestock Malaysia and Malaysia International Agro-Tourism Exhibition (MIATE).
“HPPNK this time will be similar to the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) and the concept will be expanded from year to year to place Malaysia at the top of the food industry development,” he told reporters at the pre-launch of HPPNK 2017, here today.
Themed ‘Our Food Our Future’, HPPNK 2017 will feature 850 exhibition booths.
He said the agro-food sector in the country needs to be more dynamic, modern and innovative since the government had always encouraged farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen to capitalise on technology for higher productivity.
