KUALA LUMPUR – Honda Malaysia has set a monthly sales target of 700 units for its re-engineered compact recreational vehicle (CRV) model launched today.
Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Katsuto Hayashi, said the fifth-generation CRV, equipped with the advanced ‘Honda Sensing’ technology, has redefined the sports utility vehicle segment in Malaysia.
Hayashi said the recently-launched CRV models and the remaining two models to be launched in the second half of this year, would support Honda’s aim of achieving its sales target for this year.
“The market is challenging. We are on track to achieve this year’s sales target of 100,000 units, as we have sold 52,000 units as of June this year.
“Honda Malaysia is focusing on advanced technology to maintain our pole position in the country,” he said on the sidelines of the launch ceremony today.
The new CRVs come in four variants – 2.0-litre (L) 2-wheel drive (WD) (RM142,400 without insurance); 1.5L turbocharged 2WD (RM155,700); 1.5L turbocharged 4WD (RM161,600); and, 1.5L turbocharged premium 2WD (RM167,700).
Hayashi said the ‘Honda Sensing’ technology incorporated several safety features, including driver cruising aid, frontal collision deterrence and side collision deterrence.
Meanwhile, Group Vice President, Akkbar Danial, said Honda Malaysia’s current top selling models were the City, which contributed nearly 30 per cent to the overall sales volume, followed by BR-V and Jazz.
“With monthly sales target of 700 units, the new CRV will contribute about eight per cent to the overall sales.
“Our plant in Pegoh, Melaka has a capacity of around 100,000 cars per year, thus it will be able to cater to the domestic demand,” he said.- BERNAMA
