Homeless Duo Claim Trial To Robbinh Teen’s Mobilr Phone

KUALA LUMPUR – Two homeless men pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to committing gang-robbery of a mobile phone belonging to a Myanmar teenager.

Abd Ghani Awang Abu, 41, who wore a green T-shirt and his friend E. Ananthan, 31, who was clad in black T-shirt and legging pants with his hair tied, were jointly charged with robbing Anuar Sadik Harun Roshid, 15, of a Samsung mobile phone and RM200.

They allegedly committed the offence near Public Bank, Jalan Hang Lekiu, Dang Wangi, here at 2 am last Feb 9 .

The charge, under Section 395 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to 20 years and is liable to fine or whipping, upon conviction.

Judge Shamsudin Abdullah did not allow them bail and set March 5 for mention.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Siti Hajar Mohd Ashif while both the accused were not represented. – BERNAMA
