PUTRAJAYA: Home Ministry and Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) are working together to tackle the issue of false hadiths.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said false hadiths had been used for recruitment by terrorists, citing the case of the 14-year-old Malaysian girl who tried to leave the country to join the Islamic State militant as an example.
“There are so many false hadiths out there that have been fabricated and being used by terrorists to recruit people.
“We are planning to meet about 20 hadith scholars on this matter soon,” he told reporters after a meeting with ministry’s Al-Quran Text and Publishing Control Division and Jakim today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the traditional ways of learning the faith had changed nowadays.
“Previously, we will look for ustaz or a religious teacher to teach us about islam. Now, people are resorting to online where they are facing with many hadiths that are false and have no source of reference.
“The false hadiths can mislead Muslims and even threaten their faith,” he said.-NST
