Efforts are being intensified to curb involvement of Malaysians in the Islamic State militant group, Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.
The ministry’s efforts, he said, included strengthening present law’s and exchanging information with other ministries as well as international enforcement bodies.
“We are taking action to monitor these activities to ensure the country’s peace and security remain protected,” he told reporters after a closed-door meeting held with the Umno Overseas Club and student representatives.
Present were Zahid’s fellow Umno vice-presidents Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Zahid also gave his assurance that Sabah was safe, following measures taken to curb security breaches such as the militant intrusion in Lahad Datu and a spate of kidnappings involving a Chinese tourist and a police officer.MYNEWSHUB
