KOTA KINABALU: A 5-year-old girl who was home alone fell to her death after she slipped through the window a fourth floor shophouse in Beaufort Wednesday afternoon.
Farishya Miasara Agus was believed to have gotten bored and decided to get out and play while waiting for her 19-year-old brother Mohammad Sha’fiq Amin to return with her other siblings.
Sha’fiq was looking after her while their parents were at work and had left her at home when he went out at about noon to fetch his other siblings from the nearby SK St.Paul’s Beaufort.
Farishya was believed to have climbed up a plastic chair before forcing herself in between the window grill to get out.
Beaufort district police chief Deputy Supt Azmir Abd Razak said she slipped from there and fell four floors down at about 12.30pm.
“She was rushed to the hospital but it was too late. She died of severe brain damage,” he said.
Her father who worked just downstairs and mother who worked at the nearby market was immediately notified about the accident.
The case has been classified as sudden death.
