KUALA LUMPUR – A high-level committee will be set up to discuss the views of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on the issue of cost of living.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he would be chairing the committee which would also include six ministers and the secretary-generals of the ministries involved.
The ministers are Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin (Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism), Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (International Trade and Industry), Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (Education), Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh (Higher Education), Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah (Second Finance Minister) and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar.
“Through this committee, I will be inviting the chairmen of the NGOs to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to voice out their concerns and views on the issue of rising cost of living,” Ahmad Zahid said.
He was speaking at the closing of the ‘Deklarasi Prioriti 2016 – Ekonomi Keutamaan Kita’ programme, here, today, with Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom, a trustee of Yayasan Damai Sejahtera Malaysia (YDSM), the organiser, also present.
