KUALA LUMPUR – The construction of the helicopter landing site, including other basic infrastructure in Pulau Jarak, Perak for the use of the armed forces and security agencies in the country, is expected to be completed in November 2018.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said, as of yesterday, the progress of the project, which commenced in May 2016, went smoothly and was 31 days ahead of the original schedule.
“This project is for the use of the national security forces. It is implemented by the Public Works Department and adheres to the plan set.
“The government takes a serious view on the safeguarding of the country’s waters by monitoring the project. So problems faced with this problem do not arise,’ he said at the Dewan Rakyat sitting here today.
He was replying to a question from Mohamad Imran Abdul Hamid (PKR-Lumut) who wanted to know the status of the construction of the helicopter landing site that was allegedly abandoned due to the failure of the appointed contractor.
Shahidan said the contractor for the project construction was credible and had extensive experience in engineering. – BERNAMA
