KUALA LUMPUR – The Eurocopter AS365N2 Dauphin which crashed in Semenyih,Selangor, last Saturday was exclusively managed and operated by a private aviation company, Cempaka Aviation.
It was however, owned by Orion Corridor Sdn Bhd, of which IGB Corp Bhd is a shareholder.
In a statement here today, IGB Corp said it was made understand that Cempaka Aviation, is already working closely with the authorities to ascertain the cause of the tragedy.
Following enquiries from the media on the helicopter incident, IGB Corp confirmed that Datuk Seri Robert Tan of IGB Corp, was not a passenger on the ill-fated flight.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the crew and passengers who tragically lost their lives (in the incident),” it said.
In the Semenyih incident which occurred at about 4.50 pm, the medium-weight multipurpose twin-engine AS365 helicopter, crashed and burned at a rubber plantation in Kampung Sungai Pening.
The crash took the lives of six people, including Rompin member of Parliament Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis and the Prime Minister’s principal private secretary, Datuk Azlin Alias. – BERNAMA
