in Entertainment/Latest

Come hell or high water–or accidental fire, whoops!– the show must go on for Mariah Carey.

Though last night’s show was perturbed by heavy downpour, that did not stop the Elusive Chanteuse from serenading her 12,000 adoring fans on her concert in KL’s Stadium Merdeka.

Coming back on our shores after a whole ten years of absence, the singer chose KL city to kick-start the South East Asian leg of her worldwide tour.

The show started at 9.15 p.m. and displayed impressive costume changes, all of which abide to the strict Malaysian dress code, she aptly covered herself in a black jacket, a long shocking pink grecian dress and a black and white dress from local designer Farah Khan.

You go,Mariah!

However, the siren, who once boasted a stellar five-octave vocal range, chose the safe route of lip-syncing some of her most popular songs.

Similar situation happened during her show in Tokyo, and needless to say, her lack of stamina and vocal prowess failed to wow her Japanese fans.

But that didn’t dampen the Malaysian crowd, who were all in high spirits and probably a little too overwhelmed to process the fact that THE Mariah Carey was there right in front of their eyes.

The show got too heated that a minor fire erupted as fireworks (used as stage effects) spewed excessive sparks that caught the hem of some curtains.

The one night only show was joined by four musicians, four back-up singers and six energetic dancers, while she entertained screaming fans with Hero, We Belong Together, Emotion, Cry, My All, Honey dan I’ll Be There in the two-hour concert.

After the show, Mariah expressed her gratitude to her Malaysian fans for braving the rain last night on her Twitter account.

The singer is slated to continue her tour to the Phillipines this 28th Oct. in Makati City,Manila. The singing sensation is set to release her brand-new studio album entitled Me..I Am Mariah on early November.MYNEWSHUB
