KANGAR – Residents of Perlis are advised to reduce outdoor activities in view of the current haze situation.
State Health Department director Dr Zaini Hussin said, this was because exposure to haze could trigger many kinds of respiratory illnesses such as asthma and conjunctivitis.
Dr Zaini said the haze had hit the state since last week and as at 10am today, an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 106 was recorded in Perlis.
“In the current situation, the public are advised to stay indoors, drink plenty of plain water and wear masks,” he told reporters here today.
He said the department had also distributed leaflets on health-related measures during the haze to all health clinics as well as sharing information through print and electronic media advertisements. – BERNAMA
