KUALA LUMPUR – Low visibility of less than five kilometres over the waters off Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and western Johor is expected to persist until Sunday, Aug 30.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement here today said the Straits of Melaka and Sarawak (Kuching and Rejang) are similarly affected.
The condition is dangerous to ships that are not equipped with navigational equipment.
Thunderstorms over the waters off Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Sarawak (Bintulu and Miri), Labuan FT and Sabah (Interior, West Coast and Kudat)are expected to prevail until late morning today.
The condition may cause strong winds up to 50 kmph and rough seas with waves up to 3.5 metres (11 feet), which is dangerous to small boats.
Thunderstorms over the waters off southern Straits of Malacca, Bunguran, Reef South and Labuan are also expected till late morning today.
