ROMPIN: Barisan National’s (BN) Datuk Hasan Arifin who won the Rompin Parliamentary constituency by-election, promised to continue working for the welfare of the people in the area, especially the economicstatus of the young.
Hasan, who also promised not to disappoint the voters in the constituency, said he would fulfill the by-election promises he had made during campaigning in parliamentary constituency which is bigger than Negeri Sembilan and Melaka combined and has much economic potentials in agriculture and tourism.
“We are aware the economic resource in Rompin is in the agriculture sector but there are many other economic resources with high potentials for development,” he told reporters after he was announced the winner in the by-election at the Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah here, last night.
Hasan beat PAS candidate Nazri Ahmad by 8,895 votes after garnering 23,796 votes or 61 per cent compared to Nazri who received 14,901 votes or 39 per cent.
“I see the tourism sector with a huge potential for development which the young generation can venture into because we have something special, Pulau Tioman,” he said. – Bernama
