IT was claimed a bitter rift between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson had been central to One Direction ‘s temporary split.
But it didn’t look like that last night in Sheffield as the lads perfumed for the final time on their On The Road Again world tour.
During the emotional night, Louis and Harry came together for a very public display of affection as the hugged on stage. Wrapping their arms round each other the pair exchanged a few words before carrying on with the show.
Bidding fans a fond farewell, the Perfect singers thanked fans for their support over the last five years and assured them it wasn’t the end of 1D.
On Sunday morning, Harry took to Twitter to send out his love to his fellow bandmates: “We have been very lucky to work with an amazing crew throughout the last five years of touring. To all of you, thank you for everything.
“To everyone who came out to see us on tour, thank you for having us. You’ve been our everything out there, and we love you. Thank you.â€
Earlier this week it was claimed Harry and Louis have been at loggerheads for years.
A source told the UK’s The Sun newspaper: “Apart from Harry and Louis, no one knows exactly what caused the falling out – they didn’t even tell the other boys the full details.
“But it was very serious and their friendship has never recovered. Everyone involved in the band is well aware of the animosity between them.
“It’s been central to everything else that came next with the band because there was suddenly a massive divide.”
While it’s unknown why they fell out (One Direction fans, who wanted to believe they were in a secret relationship and dubbed them Larry Stylinson, thought that could have been the reason), the rift was so deep Louis and Harry allegedly couldn’t even fly in the same private jet together.
“The official reason given was that Harry didn’t like the fact Louis, Liam and [former member] Zayn [Malik] smoked on board. But it was something much more personal.
“For the making of their last three albums, they never spent any time together in the studio as a band. That’s quite an extraordinary situation, but their team knew the less time Harry and Louis had to spend together, the better the chances 1D would stay together.”
A rep for the band completely dismissed the claims and told Mirror Celebs earlier this week: “It’s a shame that some sections of the media love to build people up and then they love to knock them down.
“One Direction have sold 8.2 million tour tickets and over 65 million records worldwide. Their new single Perfect has already hit No.1 on iTunes in over 60 countries and is set to be one their biggest hits ever.
We should be celebrating their amazing worldwide success as a band that has developed out of the UK, and the phenomenal things they have achieved, and will continue to achieve in the future.” – Daily Mirror
