Halle Berry is adamant about doing things her way, and that includes not allowing anyone touching her kid’s hair. Including the child’s father.
The Oscar winner dragged her ex, model Gabriel Aubry, to court on Monday morning following a disagreement over their 6-year-old daughter Nahla’s hair, as reported by E!News.
Apparently Halle objected to Aubry having Nahla’s natural curly hair straightened and highlighted when she’s in his care, citing that the French-Canadian model, who is Caucasian, was trying to make the child less African-American.
Which is odd, because Halle herself has a white mother and black father.
After a heated exchange in court between the former couple’s attorneys, the judge ruled that, moving forward, neither Halle nor Aubry can alter Nahla’s natural hair texture or colour.
The exes have more or less shared custody of Nahla since their split in 2010, trudging through some pretty ugly days in court a couple years back to get to the joint arrangement they have today. At one point, Berry sought permission to move with her daughter to France, arguing that the paparazzi, a convicted stalker and the other pitfalls of fame were making her feel unsafe in the U.S., but a judge denied the request.
Berry married French actor Olivier Martinez in July 2013 and gave birth to their son, Maceo, that October.
