ALOR SETAR – A 32-year-old police inspector who was caught semi-naked in the female restroom of a mall in the city on Monday, may lose his badge.
A psychiatric evaluation carried out on the policeman confirmed that he was suffering from mental illness.
Kedah police chief Datuk Asri Yusoff said the psychiatrist concluded that the inspector, who was under the influence of drugs, was hallucinating when he was caught trespassing into the female restroom in the 12.30am incident on Monday.
“It was confirmed that he was hallucinating when he entered the restroom; he was also under the influence of drugs,” he told a press conference here today.
Asri said following the incident, the officer is staring at the possibility of being sacked from the force due to his actions.
He said the policeman had been hauled up for various disciplinary problems over the past years, including going absent without official leave for 90 days and for failing to submit a report of a case he was investigating.
“However, this is the first time he has been caught for drug abuse,” he said.
Asri said, as of today, the woman who appeared to be berating the inspector in a video that has since gone viral, yet to come forward to lodge her report.
It was reported a police mobile patrol unit, acting on a distress call over a disturbance caused by a man at the mall, found the inspector clad in only his underpants inside the toilet.
In his possession was a crystal-like substance weighing about 0.62 grams, believed to be ‘syabu’.
A video of a woman accusing the man of taking photos of her while she was relieving herself had since gone viral.
The woman also questioned why the man had touched her when he had accused her of being a transgender. – NST
