PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Moto2 rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah finished Grand Prix of the Americas in sixth spot at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin on Saturday.
The Petronas Raceline rider, riding on a steady progression after finishing 12th at the Qatar Grand Prix two weeks ago, finished the 19-lap race in 41:59.733, 14.168 seconds behind race winner Sam Lowes of Britain.
With the result, Hafizh collected 10 points from Austin to add to his total this season after two races to 14 points. He sits in ninth spot in the World Championsip, 15 points behind leader Alex Rins of Spain.
Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of Honda Team Asia finished the race in 19th spot in 42:26.146 while Zaqhwan Zaidi retired after seven laps.
In Moto3, Zulfahmi Khairuddin of Drive M7 SIC endured another poor outing after starting from 28th on the grid as he finished the race in 20th spot. Team-mate Jakub Kornfeil of Czech Republic finished inside the points in 11th spot.
