KUALA LUMPUR – A motion to table PAS’ Private Member’s Bill to pave way for the implementation of hudud in Kelantan has been listed in the Dewan Rakyat’s order paper for Tuesday.
The motion, to be moved by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pic), is the 24th and last item in the orders of the day and motions.
The Bill that Hadi proposes to table is an amendment to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill 2015.
In practice, the Dewan need not finish all orders of the day on the same day or meeting and the orders can also be amended.
Hadi had submitted the notice of his motion to table the Bill on March 18.
The order paper states that Hadi is to move a motion for the Dewan to allow the PAS leader to table a Private Member’s Bill, in accordance with Standing Order 49 (1).
Hadi’s motion seeks to amend Section 2 of the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.
However, while the motion is listed in the order paper, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has yet to decide on whether to allow it to go through. – The Star
