The Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting set for Sunday will not be able to proceed if PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang fails to attend, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said.
Lim, who is also Penang Chief Minister, added that the decision had not been made by him, but by DAP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
On Tuesday, DAP’s national organising secretary Anthony Loke said that the CEC had approved a resolution that party leaders would only attend the meeting if PAS representatives were present.
“This is to avoid a situation where any decision reached in Pakatan is not sanctioned by PAS,†Loke had said.
Lim said DAP had received the assurance of the Pakatan secretariat that Hadi would be present at the meeting at the PAS headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut.
“The leadership meeting is long overdue. When we talk about the Pakatan leadership council meeting, the leaders must attend.
“For an extended period of time, that has not happened,†Lim told a press conference Thursday at Komtar Walk.
Lim said he did not want to “speculate†which issues were to be discussed in the meeting.-The Star
