GEORGE TOWN: DAP is willing to give PKR a “reasonable time” to decide on snap polls in Penang, but the decision cannot be dragged on.
The party’s secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, however, hoped that DAP would not have to wait for too long.
“Let’s be rational. When we talk about next year, then that is not feasible.
“You cannot fix a time frame – but if you talk about next year, then it is not possible at this present moment.
“When we talk about elections, it has to be done quickly. (It) cannot be dragged on unless there are new circumstances which have happened or have changed,” said Lim when pressed to elaborate on what constitutes a “reasonable time”.
PKR announced that it was still unconvinced over the purpose of holding snap polls after the party’s central leadership council meeting on Tuesday night.
PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had said the decision was made after taking into account the opinions of civil societies and the party’s elected representatives.
She said a delegation would be sent to the DAP leadership to explain the party’s stand.
Amanah, a third partner in Pakatan Harapan, is supporting DAP’s proposal to hold snap polls in Penang.
