ALOR GAJAH – Graduates are asked not to aim only for job opportunities in the existing sectors but insteed consider employment as ‘job creator’ in the field acquired after completing their studies at institutions of higher learning (IPT).
Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the government’s objective was to produce graduates who dared to venture into the job market using their creativity to be self reliance.
At the same time. universities must also always ensure the students acquired knowledge in the fields or courses that were constantly relevant with the job market.
“In fact among the lecturers themselves, we can look for those with entrepreneurial traits for the students,” he said at a dialogue session with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) students in conjunction with his working visit to the main campus here today.
Also present were UTeM Board of Directors chairman Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Zaidee laidin and its vice chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Shahrin Sahib.
Idris was asked if the number of graduates produced by the IPTs had exceeded job opportunities in the country resulting in difficulties to find jobs. – BERNAMA
