The government has allocated RM300 million for the implementation of the Logistics and Trade Facilitation Master Plan, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.
In his speech at the launch of the plan and the Services Sector blueprint here today, Najib said the allocation will be used to improve last mile connectivity to Port Klang.
Najib said while RM12 million will be allocated to upgrade the Padang Besar train terminal.
” The implementation of the Master Plan is expected to strengthen Malaysia’s position as the preferred logistics gateway to Asia,” he said.
The masterplan was formulated by the Economic Planning Unit to provide a strategic direction for the development of the sector.
It focuses on increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the logistics industry to further stimulate trade, facilitate business efficiency and spir economic growth.
Najib also chaired the first meeting for the Special Committee on Services Sector where three working papers were presented today.
” The meeting outlined the main strategies in transforming the services sector where four main policies were identified,” he said.-NST
