PORT DICKSON – All government ministries and agencies are asked to update their website defence system in order to face any potentiak cyber threats.
Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Jailani Johari said this was due to the spread of threats by a group of hackers calling themselves Anonymous Malaysia which was said to have threatened large scale cyber attacks on Malaysia.
“This is a perception ploy by certain irresponsible parties that attempted to create an atmosphere of anxiety to the community.
“In fact in every agency we have urged them to have a defence mechanism in case there are cyber threat issues, so that this matter can be averted,” he told the media after officiating the Hulu Terengganu UMNO division leadership course here today.
The Anonymous Malaysia hactivist group through a video announced a cyber war against the Malaysian government last Monday and targeted websites using gov.my and edu.my as there were interests of the Malaysian government.
The eight-minute video uploaded from the Youtube World of Buzz account is determined to disable websites in Malaysia on August 29 and 30, from 6 pm until 11 pm.
Meanwhile Jailani said the leadership course, organised by Hulu Terengganu UMNO division was attended by 152 participants aimed at enhancing closer ties between UMNO leadership with UMNO members. – BERNAMA
