KUALA LUMPUR – The government will make sure that the Federal Territories (FT) development programmes will be carried out in a holistic manner to boost wellbeing of the residents, FT Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said.
He said besides carrying out physical development and upgrading public infrastructure for the convenience of the people, the ministry would also focus on the spiritual development of the people.
Various efforts had been done for that purpose, including the setting up of special taskforces to combat illegal activities, improve cleanliness, enhance road safety and to beautify public housing areas with cooperation from government agencies, community leaders and non-governmental organisations.
Tengku Adnan said this at the investiture of FT awards, honours and medals by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah in conjunction with the 2015 Federal Territories Day at Istana Negara here today.
Tengku Adnan said the ministry would also ensure that all development projects, especially for the convenience of the people, would run smoothly.
“This includes the development of NKEA Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley projects, involving River of Life, Pedestrian Walkway, Heritage Trails, Greener Kuala Lumpur, MyRapid Transit (MRT), Sewerage Non-River and Solid Waste Management.
“These are among the projects that will boost the country’s economic growth in the future,” he said.
In view of the global economic uncertainty, the ministry had also taken several measures to cut cost, including by spending wisely and ensuring that all of it events and programmes would be held in moderation, he added. – BERNAMA
